Infrastructure
October 2025: the month your infrastructure failed
AWS down 15 hours. Azure down 9 days later. Ransomware: record 86 incidents.
In nine days, two of the world's three largest cloud providers suffered major outages. Meanwhile, ransomware hit its highest monthly count: 86 publicly disclosed incidents, 623 total attacks. Your infrastructure was vulnerable everywhere.
AWS — 20 October
15-hour outage. US-EAST-1. 1,000+ companies disrupted, 17 million user reports. Root cause: an empty DNS record.
Azure — 29 October
Nine days later: Azure Front Door configuration change cascaded globally. Microsoft 365, Teams, Xbox Live offline — on earnings day.
What to build
- True multi-cloud isolation. Not multi-region within one provider.
- Assume your cloud will go down. 24-hour graceful degradation.
- Offline backups, tested monthly. Air-gapped.
- Run chaos engineering. Simulate cloud going dark.
